About Roots Tennis
Roots tennis was formed by Stuart Grice it is Stuart’s vision that tennis should be easily accessible for all pupils regardless of financial social or cultural standing.
Our belief is Tennis is a sport for all and every player matters. A player on court with a tennis racket in their hand is an extra player to participating in the game of tennis and this to us is “Growing the game”. We cover many aspects of tennis, although our specialty is schools coaching all aspects of tennis are covered at grassroots level. Some of our success stories include previous players attaining county colours in both adult seniors and mini tennis juniors.
Our club program last year 2019 pushed the club towards bringing home nearly 20 trophies from individual league competitions team competition and schools competitions. We try to work with local education authorities, tennis clubs and coaches where possible. We currently have 2 bases in the tennis clubs of Croston and Barton.
Our schools program coaches over 350 children a week on average. We pride ourselves on providing help and support for teachers in the education industry. Having operated in schools for 14 years Stuart has an in depth knowledge of the challenges day to day schools face. The delivery, content and aspects required to deliver an outstanding lesson.
Our club-school links has always been strong and has seen schools from our program achieve 8x top 4 finishes in the Lancashire youth games in the last 10 years. One of our schools is currently runners up for 2019 Lancashire school games tennis competition.
We now also have an online portal for all teachers and schools to use. This will help form intent, implementation, and measure impact on you lessons.
